Apple shipping iPod nanos with cases

Apple has quietly started shipping cases with the iPod nano. It is the same case that comes with the new iPod video, but smaller to fit the nano. While this is a great move on Apple's part, I can already hear current iPod nano owners complaining that they should be sent a case to help protect their nano.

Apple do the right thing. What's fair is fair.

**Update** Just spoke to Apple customer service. They said; "All iPods will now be shipping with the protective sleeve."

Apple customer service was awesome, they can't send me the sleeve that comes with the nano, but are sending me a case to protect my nano. Apple has once again gone up another notch in my book, they completely understood where I was coming from, and provided a better solution than I would ever had anticipated. Nothing short of spectacular customer service. Thanks Apple!!!!

Comments:
Little slow, but faster then most. I knew about this yesterday since I spent so much time at the ilounge forum.
Thank's for spreading the word

I missed this at iLounge, I like getting the word out. I am on the phone with Apple now. What's fair is fair.

dood what case did they send you? and was it for free?

3 case extrememac tuffwrap for ipod nano
free of charge.

Wowie, i'll call them and see what they can do. I'll use u as an example if they refuse :P

DOOD those things cost 24.95!! dont' u think they would've sent u the sleeve.... after all it's cheaper.

what exactly did you say to them??

ugly looking sleeves...and you have to take the nano out everytime you want to change something????

it a lie i just call apple and i ask them ask sending a case for the ipod, and the guy phone pretty much laugh at me

Mabye you were a dick to the guy and thats why he laughed at you...Dont disrespect the guy who wrote this it just isnt right..

trust me, i civil to the guy at apple and if this story is not true than it not true. it is no need to sugar coat it,i'm not the one getting people hope up with a lie. end of story.....

How about instead they have a section on their web site where, if you provide the S/N, they will send you one for free? It should be easy for everyone to get this remedy, and they should not have to hunt for some phone number. This should be a public thing that Apple releases, saying HEY, GO HERE FOR YOUR FREE SLEEVE.

I called Apple, gave them my serial number, gave this example, and waited on hold for a long time. The guy came back and told me all the news sites are misinformed. I'd rather believe you though.

I'll post pictures of the case they send me.

Where did you buy the nano? I bought mine at a reseller so they said, "Sorry, there's nothing I can do for you, goodbye."

Bought it at the Apple Store.

Apple Store, as in retail, or phone/online?

Apple retail store. Short Hills mall in NJ. I should have told you that before, sorry.

What is exactly did you say to the Customer Service Rep? They told me only nanos bought within the last 14 days, online or through telesales were eligible for a free case/sleeve.

I asked them if I could get a sleeve, since it was coming with all nanos standard now, I also told them I have Apple Care. They asked me when I bought my nano, I told them the day after Steve anounced it. I think you just need to speak to the "right person". Good luck.

Do you have AppleCare, or did you just say that?

I have AppleCare.

I tried calling Apple again. This time, the woman looked at this site and said, she, nor her supervisor has the power to send me the sleeve, however, I can call Customer Relations on Monday and they will probably be able to send me a case.

I hope they will be able to send me a case/sleeve.

I think you'll have better luck with customer relations. I read on iLounge that someone called and Apple is sending them the sleeve that comes with the nano. Someone else said Apple told them to keep an eye on the nano page, they might be putting something up for nano owners to put their serial # in to get a nano sleeve sent to them. It's obvious that Apple is going to have to do something about this. I am sure Apple will be getting a ton of calls Monday morning, as this story really broke over the weekend. Good luck.

Woah, a triple post. I just checked the number that Apple gave me on Apple.com/contact, and it's the AppleCare number. I guess they gave the the wrong #. If I called AppleCare, it'd count as my 1 free call. Does anyone know the Customer Relations #?

1800MYAPPLE. Sorry for the triple post, it was a glitch, lol.

Well, I originally called 1-800-MY-APPLE and sales redirected me to customer service and they told me to call 1-800-275-2273.

is the soft case washable?? mine is getting yellowish.. :P
