Breathe new life into the T-Mobile Dash with Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard

Don't ya just love breathing new life into old devices and making them new again? The T-Mobile Dash has to be one of the best, most upgradeable smartphones on the market. My Dash has gone from Windows Mobile 5, to Windows Mobile 6, and now it's successfully running Microsoft's latest and greatest smartphone operating system, Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard.

The Today Screen has been updated making it much easier to view and get to the most important information on your device. Threaded SMS is finally built in to Windows Mobile, a feature only found standard on Palm Treo Smartphones running Windows Mobile. The audio player has a very "iPod-esque" user interface.

Internet Explorer now allows you to zoom in and out of web pages. Microsoft also finally added Copy/Paste to Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard (better late than never).

Microsoft has also included the ever popular Windows Task Manager in Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard, allowing you to close applications and processes if your device gets a bit sluggish.

Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard also has a full Microsoft Office Suite built in. You can create and edit files right from your smartphone.

Doing this upgrade will definitely void your warranty with T-Mobile (this is a HTC ROM), but if you're like me and like to have the latest and greatest, Windows Mobile 6.1 is a very nice update.

***Update*** Another thing is you can go back to the Official T-Mobile Windows Mobile 6 by downloading it from T-Mobile. I've already tried this out, You can find more information here .
