A February 15th date has been circulating all over the web. I decided to call Sprint and see what kind of upgrade options I have. I've had a Sprint Treo 755p (longest smartphone I've ever had) since it came out, so I qualified for $150 off when signing a new 2 year contract with them. I never get those kind of discounts because I am always upgrading because I "need" to have a new smartphone every couple of months. That's why I have Sprint for my Treo 755p, AT&T for my iPhone 3G, and just recently canceled my T-Mobile account that I had for a Dash, and T-Mobile G1. I know it's crazy to have that many cell phone carriers and I don't condone it in any way, I am now down to 2 carriers. But, I digress.
After speaking to a Sprint customer service rep. I asked if I could speak to a manager. A manager came on and I asked him if he had any idea of when the Palm Pre would be available. He said, "mid February". I said, "are you sure you're talking about the Pre, and not the Treo Pro?". He said, "no, it's the Palm Pre that was announced at CES, the Treo Pro with Windows Mobile will be available at the end of February."
So here's hoping that February 15th might actually be the day that Palm and Sprint make the Pre available. Until then I'll have to make do with my Treo 755p and iPhone 3G ;)
