"If you were wondering how I was doing push email tests on iPhone OS 2.0 and Vodafone UK, this is the reason why. The code wizard commandos at the iPhone Dev Team have been working on this non-stop since the early days of beta testing. In fact, I had iPhone OS 2.0 running on my iPhone since last week. That was version 5A345, two below 5A347, but identical in functionality.
Now that the official iPhone OS 2.0 is out, the iPhone Dev Team will release their Pwnage tool for everyone to unlock and jailbreak their iPhones soon."
Here's Gizmodo's video of MobileMe's Push Mail on an unlocked & Jailbroken iPhone 2.0 . Who would have thought 2.0 would be jailbroken and unlocked already???
San Francisco, CA -- (June 12, 2008) – AOL announced that the company was recognized with an Apple Design Award for the development of AOL Radio for iPhone. The AOL developed application was highlighted during the "iPhone Developer Showcase" portion of the annual awards ceremony last night at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco and won the award for "Best Entertainment Application".
Built using Apple’s Beta iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK), the new application gives users immediate, free access to over 350 online radio stations, including 150 local CBS RADIO stations and custom channels plus more than 200 AOL Radio channels. The AOL Radio iPhone application will be available as a free download with the launch of Apple's App Store.
“We’re thrilled to be recognized by Apple for the work that has gone into AOL Radio for the iPhone,” said Kevin Conroy, Executive Vice President, AOL. "The API's available in the iPhone SDK provided us with all the tools necessary to quickly create a terrific version of AOL Radio for the iPhone OS and we're looking forward to adding streaming radio to the many great experiences available to iPhone users."
AOL Radio gives iPhone users immediate, free access to hundreds of best in breed stations including over 200 stations spanning 25 genres of music and an extensive collection of popular CBS RADIO programing, including WFAN-AM and 1010 WINS in New York, KLSX and KROQ in Los Angeles, WXRT in Chicago, and WVEE in Atlanta. In addition, AOL Radio’s 200-plus stations span 25 musical genres, including Awesome 80’s, Fresh 100, and Classic Rock.
AOL Radio for iPhone leverages iPhone’s Core Location framework to detect a user's location and automatically display CBS RADIO stations nearest to the user. Additionally, AOL Radio for iPhone automatically adapts to the current connection speed of the device providing low-bandwidth streams when on a cellular network versus higher quality audio for WiFi connections.
The award represents a significant milestone in AOL’s efforts to “get back to the Mac.” Over the past year, AOL reinvested in the Mac platform, creating new mobile and desktop experiences for the iPhone, iPod Touch and Macintosh computer. Using Apple’s tools and SDKs, as well as working closely with Apple’s design and development teams, AOL has launched a series of new applications including AOL Mobile Search, an optimized AOL.com portal and AOL Desktop for Mac.
**Update** Just got an email from AOL that the AOL Radio App will be available for FREE on launch day of the App Store.

Unless Apple's Australian iPod touch page made a huge mistake, it looks like the App Store will be available on June 27th. This also means that the iPhone 2.0 Firmware will also be released that day. Stay tuned.
AppleInsider is reporting that the first third-party native iPhone applications will be ready Monday (iPhone OS 2.0 would have to be released Monday for this to happen).
Apple will announce immediate availability of the new iPhone for some regions next week.
Here's to hoping these rumors are facts come Monday.
Apple will stop selling the .Mac service, existing .Mac users will have their @mac.com email addresses forwarded to @me.com.
"MobileMe is slated to include a host of new features, in addition, there will be new web interfaces for all aspects of MobileMe -- calendars will look just like iCal, Contacts will look just like they do in Address Book, etc. This is similar to the way .Mac Webmail works today, though we've heard that the new interfaces will be much snazzier (yes, that's a technical term). Apple should also be updating the .Mac dependent applications (iChat, iWeb, iPhoto etc.) to work with the new service. The new service will be backwards compatible with .Mac protocols for the time being."
MobileMe is expected to be available in late June/ early July.
MobileMe is already built in to the latest beta of the iPhone OS.
MobileMe will feature over-the-air syncing of contacts, calendars, and photos.
A version of MobileMe for Windows is planned.
In celebration of its 11th anniversary, Ilium will also be having a huge sale on all its software. This would be the perfect time to buy any of Ilium's great applications for 55% off!!!. You'll have 5 days to purchase Ilium software with a 55% discount by clicking here .

"Palm is adding new hands-free capabilities to its smartphones as a result of an agreement with Nuance Communications.
Palm will use VSuite applications from Nuance for to hands-free, one-step access to mobile applications and content. VSuite's speech-based user interface will be included on the Palm Centro from AT&T (NYSE: T), and on the Treo 755p from Verizon (NYSE: VZ) Wireless. VSuite is also supported on all Palm OS-based Treo smartphones, Nuance said Wednesday.
VSuite works with simple one-step commands that Nuance said requires no training. Sample voice commands include name dialing from any name on a phone's contact list; digit-dialing a phone number ("Call 7815550000"); or message addressing for text, picture, and video messages ("Send text to John Smith mobile"). Voice prompts can also be used to look up contacts as well as open any application or menu on the phone, Nuance said.
n addition, Nuance also offers Voice Control, a subscription-based service for Palm users to connect to the mobile Web with voice commands. The service also allows users to dictate and send e-mail or text messages, create calendar entries, or do Web searches." Via Information Week .
It's great to hear that Palm will be adding this feature, I use Nuance Vsuite on my Sprint Treo 755p and swear by it.
So it looks like Adobe is going to make a version of Flash for the iPhone even though Steve Jobs said it just wasn't good enough.

"I can’t tell you how huge this is going to be. There will be thousands of iPhone programs, covering every possible interest. The iPhone will be valuable for far more than simple communications tasks; it will be the first widespread pocket desktop computer. You’re witnessing the birth of a third major computer platform: Windows, Mac OS X, iPhone," Pogue reports.
"Sure, there are add-on programs for the Treo, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile. But they’ll never achieve the ubiquity or popularity of iPhone apps, because Apple will preinstall the iPhone Apps Store right on every phone. That’s an online catalog of iPhone programs, which you can browse, download and install wirelessly, wherever you happen to be. That’s several thousand fewer barriers and steps than you’d encounter on the other smartphone platforms," Pogue reports.
"The release of iPhone 2.0 is over three months away, but I’ll stick my neck out and make a prediction: it will be a gigantic success, spreading the iPhone’s popularity both upward, into the corporate market, and downward, into the hands of the masses," Pogue reports. "iPhone 2.0 will turn this phone into an engineering tool, a game console, a free-calls Skype phone, a business tool, a dating service, an e-book reader, a chat room, a database, an Etch-a-Sketch…and that’s on Day One."
“Developer reaction to the iPhone SDK has been incredible with more than 100,000 downloads in the first four days,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “Also, over one million people have watched the launch video on Apple.com, further demonstrating the incredible interest developers have in creating applications for the iPhone.”
Apple also previewed the new App Store, a breakthrough way for developers to wirelessly deliver their applications to every iPhone and iPod touch user. Developers set the price for their applications—including free—and retain 70 percent of all sales revenues.
Leading developers such as AOL, Electronic Arts, Epocrates, salesforce.com and Sega have already demonstrated amazing applications using the SDK, and developer response continues to be phenomenal with more developers embracing the platform.

"The beta firmware that comes with the iPhone SDK has been modified to unlock and jailbreak the iPhone, even before its public release. Part of the Pwned Project, the hacked firmware will allow you to do anything you want, including the installation of both official and unofficial apps, and even patches. We got the exclusive details directly from the DevTeam, including the fact that it is going to be extremely hard for Cupertino to close this new hole:
pwned firmware means it's custom [firmware], you can have it install anything you would ever want :-) Pwned works with some magic, it will be hard to close but nothing is impossible (from Apple) with a mindtwist. But first, we will enjoy :)" Via Gizmodo .

Apple has posted the iPhone SDK online and you can download it for FREE here .
CUPERTINO, California—March 6, 2008—Apple® today previewed its iPhone™ 2.0 software, scheduled for release this June, and announced the immediate availability of a beta release of the software to selected developers and enterprise customers. The iPhone 2.0 beta release includes both the iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK) as well as new enterprise features such as support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync to provide secure, over-the-air push email, contacts and calendars as well as remote wipe, and the addition of Cisco IPsec VPN for encrypted access to private corporate networks.
“We’re excited about creating a vibrant third party developer community with potentially thousands of native applications for iPhone and iPod touch,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “iPhone’s enterprise features combined with its revolutionary Multi-Touch user interface and advanced software architecture provide the best user experience and the most advanced software platform ever for a mobile device.”
The iPhone SDK provides developers with a rich set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and tools to create innovative applications for iPhone and iPod® touch. Starting today, anyone can download the beta iPhone SDK for free and run the iPhone Simulator on their Mac®. Apple today also introduced its new iPhone Developer Program, giving developers everything they need to create native applications, and the new App Store, a breakthrough way for developers to wirelessly deliver their applications to iPhone and iPod touch users.
With the iPhone SDK, third party developers will be able to build native applications for the iPhone with a rich set of APIs, including programming interfaces for Core OS, Core Services, Media and Cocoa Touch technologies. The iPhone SDK will allow developers to create amazing applications that leverage the iPhone’s groundbreaking Multi-Touch™ user interface, animation technology, large storage, built-in three-axis accelerometer and geographical location technology to deliver truly innovative mobile applications.
Apple has licensed Exchange ActiveSync from Microsoft and is building it right into the iPhone, so that iPhone will connect out-of-the-box to Microsoft Exchange Servers 2003 and 2007 for secure over-the-air push email, contacts, calendars and global address lists. Built-in Exchange ActiveSync support also enables security features such as remote wipe, password policies and auto-discovery. The iPhone 2.0 software supports Cisco IPsec VPN to ensure the highest level of IP-based encryption available for transmission of sensitive corporate data, as well as the ability to authenticate using digital certificates or password-based, multi-factor authentication. The addition of WPA2 Enterprise with 802.1x authentication enables enterprise customers to deploy iPhone and iPod touch with the latest standards for protection of Wi-Fi networks.
The iPhone 2.0 software provides a configuration utility that allows IT administrators to easily and quickly set up many iPhones, including password policies, VPN setting, installing certificates, email server settings and more. Once the configuration is defined it can be easily and securely delivered via web link or email to the user. To install, all the user has to do is authenticate with a user ID or password, download the configuration and tap install. Once installed, the user will have access to all their corporate IT services.
The iPhone 2.0 software release will contain the App Store, a new application that lets users browse, search, purchase and wirelessly download third party applications directly onto their iPhone or iPod touch. The App Store enables developers to reach every iPhone and iPod touch user. Developers set the price for their applications—including free—and retain 70 percent of all sales revenues. Users can download free applications at no charge to either the user or developer, or purchase priced applications with just one click. Enterprise customers will be able to create a secure, private page on the App Store accessible only by their employees. Apple will cover all credit card, web hosting, infrastructure and DRM costs associated with offering applications on the App Store. Third party iPhone and iPod touch applications must be approved by Apple and will be available exclusively through the App Store.
The iPhone SDK provides a reliable, fast and secure way to create innovative applications for the iPhone and iPod touch. In addition to the rich set of iPhone OS APIs, the iPhone SDK also provides advanced tools for creating native iPhone and iPod touch applications including: Xcode® for source code editing, project management and graphical debugging; Interface Builder with drag and drop interface creation and live preview; Instruments to monitor and optimize iPhone application performance in real time; and the iPhone Simulator to run and debug applications.
During the beta iPhone SDK program, a limited number of developers will be accepted into Apple’s new iPhone Developer Program and offered the ability to get code onto iPhones for testing. The Standard Program costs $99 (US) per year and gives members an iPhone SDK and development tools; access to pre-release iPhone software; technical support; the ability to get code onto iPhones for testing; and distribution of applications via the new App Store. The Enterprise Program costs $299 (US) per year.
In addition to these new iPhone network and security features, the beta iPhone 2.0 software provides several new Mail features such as the ability to view PowerPoint attachments, in addition to Word and Excel, as well as the ability to mass delete and move email messages.
• iTunes Store as hub - as expected, Apple will require future iPhone and iPod Touch applications to be distributed through Apple's iTunes Store.
• Apple as Application Gatekeeper - iLounge believes that Apple will act as a gatekeeper for the applications themselves and will formally approve or deny all software releases:
• No Accessory Support - no ability to support dock-based accessories (such as a GPS module), though the iPhone's own phone, Wi-Fi, and camera will reportedly accessible.
iLounge corroborates earlier rumors that the final SDK would be not ready for release at Apple's March 6th event. Instead, they echo that a beta will be available then, with the final release to await WWDC in June. Via MacDailyNews .
StyleTap is working on a version of their application that will allow Palm OS applications to run on the iPhone and iPod touch.

Solution
This can occur if the iPhone is not displaying the same date and time setting as the carrier network time.
Make sure iPhone is setup to receive the network time. Choose General > Date & Time and turn Set Automatically to ON. (Note that in some locations, network time may not be available and in some cases, you may not see this option).
If the issue continues after turning this setting on, the issue may be occurring because messages are being sent in quick succession (more common if the messages consist of only a few short words).

"Apple will release an iPhone software update during MacWorld Expo 2008, well informed sources confirmed MacScoop. But it appears that the unpolished iPhone sofware version recently leaked on the Internet doesn't include all the features of the final release.
The reports we obtained claim that the software update will add copy-paste, which is one of the most requested features by iPhone users, and will provide a few user interface improvements."

We all know how much Google and Apple are liking eachother these days. So, it's not too surprising that Google has decided to do an iPhone version of Picasa.
Google’s torrid love affair with the iPhone continues as the big G rolls out a new iPhone-optimized interface for its online photo-sharing site, Picasa. According to Joe Walnes, a software engineer with Google’s mobile division, the decision to do an iPhone-specific version of Picasa came about where all good ideas do: the pub.
I was sitting in the pub recently (I’m a Brit, it’s what I do), and I wanted to show my friend a photo of the sunset I saw on my honeymoon. I pulled out my phone and started typing in the URL for Picasa Web Albums. Before I could continue, he threw his shiny iPhone into my hand. He told me to launch the Safari browser bundled on the iPhone and give that a try.
I had a look around some websites and I really liked how they looked on the iPhone. I could get to everything I needed. I went to picasaweb.google.com but it didn’t quite feel right. It was using some very cool AJAXy features, but these were designed with a desktop web-browsing experience in mind. So the next day I had a go at creating a new interface for Picasa Web, designed for the iPhone.
The interface is smooth and easy to use on the iPhone and lets you quickly view your pictures or search for images in the community at large. It even has a slideshow mode, and of course you can flip your images into landscape just by rotating the phone. To access the new interface, head over to Picasa on your iPhone, or by navigating to Google’s revamped homepage and selecting “More” from the toolbar at the top."
